"Who hears these words of mine & puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, & the winds blew & beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine & does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, & the winds blew & beat against that house, & it fell with a great crash."

Kyler's 4th Birthday Parties

Kyler had three celebrations for his birthday.  The first celebration was on Kyler's real birthday, April 12th, which fell on a Friday this year.  Kyler called this his "little party" since it was just with Mom, Dad, and Norah. :)  We had a fairly uneventful day, playing around the house and hanging out until Erik got home from work.  As soon as Erik got home, Kyler wanted to open up his presents, so he was able to do just that. :)  After presents, we had dinner together, and then Kyler had the choice of going to Scratch or Four Queens for dessert, and he chose Four Queens. :)  He of course wanted orange ice cream!  After ice cream, we got ready and headed to bed because his family party was the next day!  Here are some pictures from his "little party" :)

On Saturday we celebrated Kyler's birthday with all of our extended families.  Kyler called this his "big party" :).  Everyone came over about 5:30, and we enjoyed a yummy supper of pulled pork sandwiches, cheesy potatoes, fruit, carrots and chips.  After dinner the kids played for a while, and then it was time to open presents.  Kyler opened so many wonderful and fun things for his birthday from our families.  After presents, it was time for dessert.  I say dessert because we didn't have a cake.....you see, Kyler had requested a Sandlot birthday party, (after the Sandlot baseball movie).  I had gone somewhere some evening, and came home and Kyler informed me he wasn't having a birthday cake, but instead, he wanted s'mores bars because in the Sandlot Movie, they eat s'mores. :)  I was a little disappointed that I wouldn't get to make a baseball cake, but I said that whatever he wanted was what we would do!  It also made it a lot easier!! :)  After s'mores bars and "Happy Birthday", the kids were off to play baseball outside, even though it was chilly out, they were itching to get out and play! :)  Here are some pictures from the "big party" :).

Kyler's final birthday celebration was a week after his birthday on Friday the 19th.  This was his "friend party".  I was trying to explain the concept of having a "family" party and a "friend" party, but I don't think he quite understood the difference.  He thought he was turing 5 at his "friend party" :).  Anyways, we invited a few of Kyler's friends over with their families to celebrate.  I haven't quite ventured into the "friend only" party yet. :)  The Reisetters and Lauren were able to make it to the party.  Even though Lauren isn't really Kyler's age, :)  we still love it when it works out that she is back and able to stop by and celebrate one of our kids' birthday's with us!! (Thanks for hanging out with us Lauren)!  We started about 5:30 with a dinner of homemade pizza, green bean casserole, fruit, and chips.  After dinner Kyler opened his presents from his friends.  When presents were done, we had some more s'mores bars and sang "Happy Birthday" one last time. :)  Then the kids were off to play!  It was funny because in between each "thing" (dinner, presents, dessert) I kept calling all the kids back because they had already gone off to play and have fun together. :)  Once again, we had a wonderful evening celebrating Kyler!  Here are some pictures from Kyler's final celebration:

We were so blessed by all of the family and friends that came to help us celebrate Kyler's 4th birthday.  We enjoyed having each and every one you come and spend time at our house celebrating our four-year-old.  Kyler received some wonderful things for his birthday, and we are so grateful for all of your generosity.  Thanks again for coming to "The Sandlot" to help us celebrate!!!  Kyler had a wonderful time!!
