"Who hears these words of mine & puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, & the winds blew & beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine & does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, & the winds blew & beat against that house, & it fell with a great crash."

Matthew 7:24-27

Our 4 Month Old!

Kyler turned 4 months old on August 12th (as you can see I'm not getting any better with these updates!)  We had his 4 month doctor appointment last Tuesday and he weighed in at 15 lbs 12oz and is now 25 inches long!  The doctor also said that Kyler could try some rice cereal, but we haven't done that yet, I will let you know how that goes.  Kyler did roll over for the first time while we were up in Minnesota!  I had put him on my parent's bed on his tummy and I stepped out of the room for just a few seconds and when I came back he was on his back.  Since we have been home he has also rolled over from his back to his tummy a few times-our little guy is going to be on the move very soon!  He also continues to LOVE being outside!  I don't know what we are going to do this winter when we can't go out, hopefully this fall stays nice for quite a while so we can enjoy being outside as long as possible.

Not a whole lot else is new with us.  I am really enjoying being at home with Kyler.  I can't imagine dropping him off somewhere for someone else to take care of all day.  I don't think I would have the energy either to go to school all day and be able to give the attention I want to give to Kyler.  Nor do I think I would have the energy to go to school all day after being up with Kyler in the middle of the night! :)  (Hopefully that will end soon though...)

Here are some pictures of Kyler as a 4 month old!

Getting Kyler to laugh while sitting around a campfire at the lake.

Big boy :)

Looking like a man of luxury with all the bubbles in his bath!

Relaxing with dad, see any resemblance........??

Dad thought he would look cool with a bandana :)

What a cute smile! :) (even though I am a bit biased) :)

Second Minnesota Trip!

Kyler and I headed up to Minnesota again while Erik was on Caravan.  We took off with my dad the Friday before Caravan left.  I'm glad I didn't have to drive myself because I still need to spend a lot of time entertaining Kyler in the car at this point in his life! :)  I was glad to not be home alone with Kyler and to have some help entertaining him, making dinner, etc. while Erik was gone.  I do have to admit though it was still a long week without Erik.  Kyler didn't sleep well at all while we were there and me being the only one to get up with him was tough-but we made it through!  It was fun too because we got to be up there with my cousins, their kids, and my aunt and uncle.  We were actually there for two weeks, until August 10, because Erik came up and joined us when he got home from Caravan.  The last weekend we were there, we surprised my dad with a birthday party because he turned 60 on August 2nd.  Happy Birthday Dad!!  Here are some pictures of the things we did while we were there!

Kyler sitting outside in his stroller with Max.  Kyler loves to be outside and if you notice in this picture he is looking up with his mouth wide open.  It's a funny picture, but he loves to look up at the trees, and in Minnesota, there are a lot of trees, so this would entertain him for a little while.  It's funny how one of the simplest things can be so amazing to a little guy!

Big smile!!

Sitting out on the beach with mom!  We would do this sometimes in the evening when he was getting fussy before it was time for his bath!

Hanging out with Uncle Ben!  Ben came up a week after we got there and then stayed the rest of the time.

First paddle boat ride!!  We didn't have very nice weather before Erik got there.  It was cool (upper 60s, maybe 70) and pretty windy.  Finally we had a day that was warm enough and calm enough to take the paddle boat out!  Kyler didn't like wearing his life jacket though as his body doesn't fit it very well yet (next year it will!) so we just stayed close to shore.

My dad's face as he walked into the cabin realizing he was going to have a surprise party!  My brother got him out of the house by taking him golfing that morning with my uncle and cousin.  We cleaned and decorated while he was gone and when he came back, he was definitely surprised!  The funny thing was, the week before, when he had left to go to California on work, he had told my mom he didn't want a surprise party, we fooled him! :)

Kyler with Grandpa at his surprise party!

Walking on the beach the last weekend we were there when we finally had some nice weather!

Erik waterskiing! If you remember in the last Minnesota post I talked about how Erik finally made it around the lake skiing this summer!  Well, he did it again when we were up there this time too!  It's hard to see, but there he goes!

Family picture the morning before we left!
