"Who hears these words of mine & puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, & the winds blew & beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine & does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, & the winds blew & beat against that house, & it fell with a great crash."

Matthew 7:24-27

Norah is One!!!

Norah was 1 year old on February 5th!  I know everyone says this, but I cannot believe we already celebrated her first birthday.  The past year has gone so fast and I'm sure things are going to just keep going "faster".  Here are some things about our little one-year-old Miss!

*Norah has her four front teeth.  You can see the ones on the top sides but they aren't through yet.

*The past month Norah has mastered standing on her own.  She hasn't taken any steps by herself yet, but she can stand alone for a good 20-30 seconds.  She also LOVES to walk with her stroller/walker.  Erik's parents gave Norah a doll stroller walker as part of her Christmas present and she loves to push her babies around in it and walk behind it.  She just zooms around the house and I know it won't be long before she is walking on her own!

*Norah eats just about everything we do now.  She loves just about everything you give her to eat, but one of her favorites is sweet potato fries!

*Norah made it to a year nursing!!  I was a little nervous that we wouldn't make it this far because once she started enjoying "real" food, she was less interested in nursing, but we did it!  Norah still eats in the morning when when she gets up, before she goes to bed, and usually once in the night (I would really like to cut out this feeding, but I really think she is just still hungry and sometimes the only way for her to go back to sleep), (she also still might eat right after her afternoon nap, but I can't remember when we dropped that feeding since I'm a bit behind on this post) :)  We are going to start weaning now!

*One of Norah's favorite activities right now is to open the drawer on the stove/oven and pull on the pots and pans.  And even better, if there is a pot or pan missing because it's dirty, she will climb inside the drawer and sit! (see picture below) :)

*Norah is still taking two naps a day.  She takes about an hour morning nap from 10-11, and then will take a 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon at about 2:30.  She then goes to bed about 9:00 pm and will sleep until 7 or 8 in the morning.  She still wakes up in the night and will usually come join us in bed whenever she wakes up and then will go right back to sleep.

*At Norah's one year appointment she weighed 18 lbs 8 oz and was 29 inches long.  I'm not sure what those percentiles are, but know she's just long and skinny-like Kyler!  Kyler was the same height, but weighed about 2 lbs more.  She was also tested for iron and she's not anemic, so that's great!

*Norah loves her big brother and loves to be doing whatever he is doing.  If Kyler is playing with his cars, Norah wants to be playing with his cars too (I'm sure you can imagine the problems this has caused!) :)

*Norah is also still pretty much a "mama's girl".  If she's tired or hurt or if something is wrong, Erik will try to console her, but usually if she sees me, she wants mommy. :)
