"Who hears these words of mine & puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, & the winds blew & beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine & does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, & the winds blew & beat against that house, & it fell with a great crash."

Matthew 7:24-27

Kyler is 5!!

Kyler turned 5 on April 12th!  I know everyone says this, but seriously, how is he 5 already!?!!  At Kyler's 5 year check-up, he weighed 36 lbs and was 42 inches tall.  Kyler will still lay down and rest during "nap time" but it's only occasionally that he still falls asleep, and lately he has fallen asleep less and less. :)  But, I still think it's good that he has some down time.  Kyler will eat just about anything and likes to try new foods all the time.  He of course doesn't like everything he tries, but we love that he tastes them anyways!  Kyler is in preschool three mornings a week and loves it.  His coloring and handwriting have come so far this year.  He now colors 'in the lines' and accuses Norah of scribbling when she is coloring because she doesn't stay in the lines. :)  He also will color multiple colors inside of the lines too, creating some really cool pictures.  His ability to draw from memory has also come out this past year.  He has drawn several pictures of the lake with trees, a sky, the sun, etc., and some of his favorite movie Planes.  I was blown away one day when he just started "free drawing" an outside scene, it was very cool and I hadn't seen him do that before!  Kyler's writing continues to get better all the time.  He writes his name on everything he makes, and he is able to copy words and letters very easily.  He made a card for my old babysitter's husband and copied, "Happy Birthday Henry" onto the page.  For his birthday, Kyler received a digital watch from us, and he loves to wear it and tells us what time it is all the time.  I don't think he quite knows what happens at what time yet, but it's great that he is reading the numbers and is becoming more and more familiar with how to say the time that is on his watch.

One of Kyler's favorite things right now is the Planes Movie (and Dusty the crop hopper in the movie). He requested a "Dusty" birthday party and loves watching the movie.  He has also collected quite a few of the Planes die cast planes and other memorabilia/play sets from the movie.  Kyler also still loves baseball, and loves playing baseball.  He has been asking all winter/spring when it will be warm enough for him to go outside and play baseball in the backyard and wear a "basketball shirt" aka a cut off shirt. :)  He is also really excited to go to Target Field and watch the Twins play this summer.  Kyler enjoyed playing pretend and dress up too right now.  He enjoys pretending with Norah (when they are getting along) :) and can be found cooking in the play kitchen or working with his tools on his work bench.  Kyler also likes to draw and make things.  He loves to do little work books even if they are just coloring.  This winter he enjoyed doing various crafts for the different holidays and other "projects".  He always loves to show me what he made at school as soon as he gets home and opens up his backpack.

Kyler still has kind of a shy personality, especially at first when he is unsure of a new situation.  He did Kindergym this spring and was a bit hesitant at first, but after a few weeks, he would just jump right in. The same was with preschool this past year.  He has had the same teacher the past two years and when he walked into school this past fall his teacher said it was like he hadn't even left for summer vacation because he knew just what to do.  Kyler loves both of his sisters very much.  He enjoys playing with Norah and can really get her going if he wants to. :)  He also loves making Grace laugh and playing with her.  Kyler has such a kind heart and likes to think of others.  We were at Target the other day and he saw some band-aids that he would like and then also saw some he thought we should get for Norah. :)  Kyler loves to help out around the house and is always looking for a special job to do or a way to help you accomplish a task.

Kyler, buddy, we can't believe you are 5!  We love you very much and love the person you are becoming!  Happy 5th Birthday!
