"Who hears these words of mine & puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, & the winds blew & beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine & does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, & the winds blew & beat against that house, & it fell with a great crash."

Matthew 7:24-27

Christmas Fun!

We did some fun things during the month of December in preparation for Christmas.  Here are some of the things we did!

We decorated our house with lights!  We have always put up Christmas lights on our house, and this year was no different, we just have more helpers. :)  Norah has loved looking at all the "Christmas lights!!" as we drive around town.  Every time she sees some she yells "Cissmas lights!!" with excitement. :)  Here are some pictures of our decorating evening.

Still working on it :)

We headed downtown CF several times this December to take advantage of all the different activities they had going on.  We were down there for Holiday Hoopla the Friday after Thanksgiving, and then went down for Jingle and Mingle on main the first Friday in December.  We stood in line for the trolley for almost 45 minutes, but the kids loved it.  Norah kept asking, "go downtown, ride trolley?!?" for several weeks afterwards.  We then met up with my mom and brother and walked up and down Main Street for the rest of the evening.  By the time we got back the "Santa's Workshop" was closed, but were able to grab a quick picture anyways.  We came back the following Thursday to see the live Nativity they had at the funeral home.  Both Kyler and Norah loved seeing the animals.  We then toured Main Street one more time before heading home.

Daddy made a trip to Menard's and brought back some shovels for Kyler and Norah.

It's a good thing we got those shovels, because the next day we had tons of snow to shovel!  Kyler was so excited to wake up and see all the snow on the ground the Thursday before Christmas.  Even though it was soooo cold and windy out, he had been asking all morning to go out and play in it, so right before lunch I agreed to take them both out for just a little bit.  The wind was terrible and so we stayed on the driveway hoping the house would block some of the wind.

All ready to head out!

The Friday before Christmas we decorated some sugar cookies!  I cheated this year and bought pre-cut cookies but then used homemade frosting. :)  Next year we will cut our own because I got some wonderful new cookie cutters for Christmas!  It took Kyler just a couple minutes to get the hang of the cookie decorating thing.  I think this is the first time we have really attempted it.  Norah took a little longer to understand that you decorate one, then move on and decorate another one.  She was more interested in eating the frosting, running her finger across the frosted cookie, and eating the chocolate chips than decorating. :)

I don't have any pictures from the last thing we did, but Saturday night we drove around and looked at lights.  I always enjoy seeing all the different lights and how people have decorated their houses.  The kids enjoyed it too, but after about 45 minutes, they were ready to be done. :)  We had a lot of fun doing some different activities to get ready for Christmas.  It has been great as Kyler and Norah are getting bigger and able to do some of these things.  There are so many more activities we could have done, but just ran out of time, so we will have to do them next year! :)
