Miss Norah turned 3 on February 5th! She is turning into such a little girl and continues to amaze us every day. :) At her 3 year appointment, Norah weighed 29.3 pounds (34th percentile) and was 3 feet 1 inch tall (40th percentile). Norah still takes a nap in the afternoon for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. She continues to sleep with her pacifier (however we have told her that her time is limited) :) and her two special tag blankets. We have a stuffed Daniel Tiger for her to have when she is ready to get rid of her pacifier, which she calls her "mama". :) Norah still isn't potty trained, we have tried twice and will be trying again here in a couple weeks after all of her birthday celebrating is over.
Norah loves her babies. She enjoys rocking them, feeding them, changing their clothes and diapers and anything else you could think of. She loves to care for them and do anything to them that I am doing with Grace. :) Norah is also very "girly". :) She loves princesses. She doesn't have a favorite, but enjoys dressing up in dresses and watching princess movies and shows. Norah really likes to wear sparkly things, like shoes, tights, shirts, etc. She also loves to wear skirts or dresses in which she can twirl. :) Another favorite of Norah's is cooking. She loves to come in the kitchen and help make dinner or a treat. She also loves to pretend cook with play food.
Norah really enjoys her big brother Kyler. When Kyler is gone at preschool, she will often ask when he is coming home so she can play with him. Sometimes I think she is lost without him. Like any brother and sister, they can be best buddies or worst enemies. Norah definitely knows how to push Kyler's buttons and make him very mad or annoy him. She also loves Grace very much. She will often tell me, "Mommy, I like Grace", and want to hold her or try to help her out.
Norah definitely knows what she wants. She can be VERY particular about things. For example, last Sunday she was DETERMINED she was going to take her Snow White dress to church with her. I said no, she needed to choose something else that was smaller. She thought she needed to take the dress, this went back and forth until I finally convinced her that we were walking out the door and she needed to take her purse. :) She can also cause a lot of drama with these characteristics. If something isn't going her way, she will definitely let you know!
Norah is also very smart. She can recognize several letters and knows what sounds they make. The other day we were talking about different words and what sound they started with and she was naming the letters that made those sounds. Norah also can spell her name aloud to you if you ask her. She still needs help writing it though.
Norah is fairly outgoing. For her birthday she wanted a microphone so she can sing like they do on the TV show "The Voice". It has been funny to watch her as she will stand at her microphone and sing different songs, mostly from Daniel Tiger. :) I can see her being the one to be standing on stage some day singing or dancing. She is also a lot more willing to talk to people than Kyler. If someone comes up and asks her something (and she knows who the person is) she will usually respond, where as Kyler tends to be more shy (but he is getting better). Norah has a great memory too. She remembers lots of things that we have done, or a place she went with Grandma and Grandpa and will often recall these things to us. She also remembers people and their names very well.
Miss Norah, we can't believe you are three! You are turning into such a little girl! We love you very much! Happy Birthday!!
